Week 57: Day 4

Notice the post title- Week 57, Day 4...Yep, that's how long I've been around posting my eats and trying to live a healthier lifestyle. 403 days to be exact- or just a long ass time. I can't lie- if you would have asked me 57 weeks ago if dieting for over a year to lose 40 lbs sounded like a good idea, I would have said, "Hell to the no." I probably would have thought, "40 lbs divided by 2 lbs per week...I should be able to do it in less than 6 months. Wow, 6 months of dieting, that blows."

Asked the same thing today, I would say the exact same thing. Not worth it, don't diet, dieting blows. Fortunately, instead of dieting, I've been changing my life. I started out with a dieting mentality, like- get the weight off ask questions about health later, but while I started that way, I've transitioned into treating my body like a temple and respecting what it needs and what it doesn't need. Its a good feeling to know what I am doing with my eating is right for me. It feels good; it makes me proud.

I've looked at some quick weight loss options over the past few weeks. I have several girlfriends going about weight loss in different ways; I see bloggers all recording their different tactics battling the bulge; I even see skinny little girls declining bread at restaurants or a chip with friends to avoid the calories. Some of them have seen dramatic results, and its hard not to want that. Then, I think back to when I tried to lose weight as fast as possible in the past. I did those things and was successful, but did I learn anything about how to approach food differently so I didn't become a serial dieter, constantly losing then regaining weight? No, not really. Did I ever enjoy working out or being active when it was about weight loss? No, not really. Did I learn anything about how to respect the way my body looks at every weight? No, not at all.

I am by no means skinny, now, but I am confident. Do you know what though, I was also confident in myself when I lost my first 14 lbs...that was 25 lbs ago. My confidence is not longer attached to my weight, but to how I treat myself and that makes me unrecognizable from who I was at 198, but just as proud as when I weighed 183. I remember standing in my kitchen taking each one of those progress pictures on the side of my blog being proud and knowing that I was doing a good thing. 183, 173, 163, 159, it doesn't matter, I'm proud of what I do here.

I thought I'd share these 10 amazingly beautiful girls who have stepped up to share their weights with the world. They all have different figures, weights, and body types and are all beautiful women. It helps put into perspective how knowing your body will give you the best idea of what your ideal weight is. I still haven't set a "goal weight" for myself because I have no idea what it will look like. I know that I can't find that information from anyone else but myself and I'm ok with that.

Note: I am not saying that others are doing things the "wrong way." I know that from my perspective, it might work for me, but I wouldn't trade the time its taken for what I've gained...even if I am suuuuper jealous of others' current weights or weight loss!

On to Saturday eats! Breakfast was 1/2 a grapefruit 1pt. Am I boring? Maybe. Do I care that much? No.

Lunch was 1/2 a grilled chicken breast 3pts with 1/2 french baguette with laughing cow cheese 3pts. For some reason I didn't feel well most of the day. Stomach and head were just off so I skipped my run, and am going to make it up Sunday.

Bread and Cheese: 150 calories, 4.5pts+ Chicken: 120 calories, 3pts+
I did some retail therapy at target and marshals during the day. I was needing some short sleeve items for this weather! Also- breaking news- sz. 8s are now a go. 10's are still ok, but a little loose, and 8's are snug.
New Shirt from Target- love that place
For dinner, Matt and I went with a friend to Pizza Bella on Avon Street. It is a really cute family owned place with unique pizzas. We split thin crust breadsticks 6pts? I had a personal primavera pizza choc full of broccoli, red and yellow peppers, squash, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, and asparagus topped with an alfredo sauce drizzle. Delicious! I had 1/2 for 8pts? I feel like this will be a repeat restaurant for post tubing sustenance since its on the way to the James River.

After dinner, Matt and I browsed Barnes and Nobel. I picked up the new Charlaine Harris short story book for guilty pleasure reading and Matt checked out books on the mac snow leapord operating system. I'm glad one of us enjoys being smart! We also checked out the movie "Get Him to the Greek." Not good, but I worked on my thesis while it was on.

I also messed around with nail polish. What do you think of the new trend nail bands? I think they're really fun given the right outfit/event. I attempted some of my own.

And while at Kroger picking up our redbox disaster, this baby cheese cake hopped in my arms. From all the way at the other end of the store- who knew? We each had two baby slices 9pts...wowza.

I then convinced forced Bear to have a photoshoot with me. This is my wonderful pup! I love him to death. He's a year and a half old.
This is Bear Bauer.
